The chance of tropical development next week from the western Caribbean to the Gulf of Mexico has increased. The National Hurricane Center now has a 30% chance of development over the next 7 days.

We remain over the peak portion of hurricane season where we see the most activity on average and fittingly, the National Hurricane Center is watching three areas for potential tropical development over the next seven days.

Through the weekend and into next week we are going to have to watch the western Caribbean and southern Gulf of Mexico, near the Yucatan Peninsula, for possible tropical development. The latest update from the National Hurricane Center gives this area a 60% chance of tropical development over the next 7 days.
