The government has approved the transfer of the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan atomic power project from NPCIL to ASHVINI.

ASHVINI, with a shareholding ratio of 51:49 between NPCIL and NTPC, will undertake nuclear power generation and associated activities as per the Atomic Energy Act of 1962. As a subsidiary of NPCIL, the venture has been authorised to build, own, and operate nuclear power plants nationwide.

Additionally, the government also approved  the transfer of  Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project with a capacity of 4x700 MW based on indigenous pressurized heavy-water reactor technology from NPCIL to the JV company.

Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited, the JV entity of NPCIL and NTPC, has received the approval from the govt to build, own and operate nuclear power plants in India in accordance with provisions of the Atomic Energy Act 1962.
